Scotch Masking Tape 233 is a smooth mini-crepe paper masking tape with a proprietary rubber-based adhesive for automotive refinish paint masking. Its balanced construction combines instant adhesion and holding power with conformability around curves and controlled handling during application. Typical physical data include 8.0 mil (0.20 mm) thickness, 30 lb/in tensile strength, and 12% elongation at break. The tape resists solvent and moisture, provides clean removal under supported conditions, and tolerates up to 250 deg F (121 deg C) for 30 minutes. It is used for masking cars, airplanes, boats, and trucks where crisp paint lines and reliable edge control are required.
