Main features

  • All-Weather Pipe Corrosion Protection
  • Conformable High-Tack Pipe Wrapping
  • Primer-Controlled Metal Surface Adhesion

Product Description

3M Scotchrap Vinyl Corrosion Protection Tape 50 is a black, 10 mil PVC corrosion-protection tape with a high-tack pressure-sensitive rubber adhesive for wrapping metal piping systems, conduits, fittings, and field joints. The flexible construction combines conformability with electrical insulation and resistance to corrosion, impact, abrasion, puncture, weathering, and common chemical exposure. Its normal service temperature range is -48 to 80 deg C. Metal surfaces must be clean and prepared with 3M Scotchrap Pipe Primer before wrapping to establish the documented application system.

Key features

  • Flexible PVC corrosion barrier: The 10 mil PVC backing conforms around pipes, conduits, fittings, and field joints while providing mechanical protection.
  • High-tack rubber adhesive: Pressure-sensitive rubber adhesive supports secure wrapping on prepared metal surfaces above and below ground.
  • Primer-controlled installation: All metal surfaces require 3M Scotchrap Pipe Primer before the tape is wrapped for the documented corrosion-protection system.

Applications

Suitable uses include corrosion protection of metal pipes, conduits, fittings, joints, and mill-coated pipe systems in electrical and utility maintenance.
