Product Description
LOCTITE EA 9309.3NA AERO is a toughened two-part epoxy paste adhesive for bonding metal skins and honeycomb core. The formulation contains 0.13 mm glass beads that help establish a controlled bondline during assembly. It produces flexible bonded joints and provides high shear and peel strength on prepared aluminum under the documented test configurations. The adhesive can cure at room temperature or with an elevated-temperature cycle, with a 35-minute pot life for a 450 g mixed mass at 25°C. Performance data include lap shear across -55°C to 82°C, peel testing, hot/wet exposure, water, hydraulic oil, fuel, anti-icing fluid, and salt spray.
Key features
- Controlled bondline thickness: Integrated 0.13 mm glass beads help maintain the intended adhesive bondline.
- Aluminum shear and peel performance: Typical ASTM D1002 lap shear at 25°C is 32.8-34.5 MPa, while T-peel reaches 214 N/25 mm under the stated aluminum preparation and cure conditions.
- Room-temperature or heat cure: Cure for 3-5 days at 25°C or 1 hour at 82°C; pot life is 35 minutes for a 450 g mixed mass at 25°C.
Applications / Suitable for
- Bonding aluminum metal skins to honeycomb core
- Prepared aluminum joints requiring both shear and peel performance
- Bonded assemblies evaluated for humidity, water, common fluid, and salt-spray exposure

Processing guidance
Prepare clean, dry bonding surfaces, mix the two components completely at the specified weight ratio, apply the adhesive, and maintain contact or pressure until the joint develops handling strength. Processing times and performance depend on mixed mass, temperature, surface preparation, bondline, and cure conditions.
Warranty life is 1 year for both components when stored below 25°C. Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated area away from incompatible materials. Part B has a safe storage range of 0-25°C and must not be heated above 100°C. This material is for industrial use only.
Cured mechanical and thermal properties
Typical bulk-resin data apply to the stated casting geometry, cure, conditioning, and test method. They are not bonded-joint design allowables.
