Product Description

MOLYKOTE® 44 Medium High Temperature Grease is a white-to-off-white, NLGI 2–3 silicone-oil grease thickened with lithium soap for bearings and other lubricated contacts across a documented -40°C to 200°C service range. Its 125 mm²/s base-oil viscosity at 25°C, 240–280 mm/10 worked penetration, and maximum Dn value of 300,000 support evaluation across different bearing speeds and application methods. Typical retention data include 2.5% bleed and 2.0% evaporation after 24 hours at 150°C, while water washout is 1.0% at 38°C. Applications include oven-fan, textile-dryer, conveyor, kiln-preheater, and automotive clutch-release bearings, as well as selected plastic parts.

Application process

Prepare and apply the grease to clean lubrication points

Application is straightforward, but grease quantity, delivery method, component materials, and existing lubricant condition should be reviewed for the specific bearing or mechanism.

Prepare: Clean the lubrication point before applying or filling the grease.
Apply: Use a brush, spatula, or automatic lubrication device according to the component geometry and maintenance system.
Validate materials: The product is described as compatible with most plastics, but confirm the exact polymer grade, exposure temperature, and existing lubricant combination.
Observe the limitation: Do not use on painted surfaces.

Storage and Handling

Store unopened in a cool, dark place. Usable life is 60 months from the date of production. Review current product safety information and the container label before handling.

Applications

High-temperature bearing applications

Documented applications center on bearings exposed to elevated temperature or broad operating-temperature changes. Final suitability depends on bearing design, speed, load, materials, grease quantity, and relubrication practice.

Oven fan or textile dryer bearing installed near a high-temperature air-handling assembly.
Oven-fan and textile-dryer bearings
These applications place bearings near sustained heat and airflow. Use the documented temperature range, evaporation, bleed, oxidation, and bearing-speed inputs to define an equipment-specific lubrication plan.
Conveyor or kiln preheater bearing in an industrial high-temperature processing line.
Conveyors and kiln preheaters
Documented use includes conveyor and kiln-preheater bearings. Evaluate the actual bearing temperature, environmental contamination, water exposure, speed, and relubrication access before selection.
Automotive clutch-release bearing beside a representative molded plastic component.
Clutch-release bearings and plastic parts
Applications also include automotive clutch-release bearings and selected plastic parts. Confirm the specific polymer, contact geometry, duty cycle, and lubrication requirements through end-use testing.
