  • Fuel-Exposed Elastomeric Seal

Product Description

PPG PR-1775 Class B Non-Chromate Corrosion-Inhibitive Sealant is a two-part, manganese-dioxide-cured polysulfide sealant for corrosion-barrier sealing of aluminum alloys and dissimilar-metal aerospace joints. The uncured material is a low-sag, thixotropic paste applied by extrusion gun or spatula and cured at room temperature. Class B-1/2 and B-2 variants provide 0.5- and 2-hour application lives at 25 deg C and 50% RH. The cured sealant has a typical Shore A hardness of 51, 420% elongation, and a service range from -54 to 121 deg C, with recurring short exposures to 182 deg C. It retains elastomeric properties after exposure to jet fuel and aviation gasoline.

Key features

  • Non-chromate corrosion barrier: The sealant forms a corrosion-inhibitive barrier on aluminum alloys and between dissimilar metals.
  • Selectable Class B work life: B-1/2 and B-2 grades provide 0.5- and 2-hour application lives at 25 deg C and 50% RH.
  • Fuel-exposed elastomeric seal: The cured material retains elastomeric properties after exposure to jet fuel and aviation gasoline.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Corrosion-barrier sealing of aluminum aerospace assemblies.
  • Sealing between dissimilar metals in aerospace assemblies.
  • Aerospace joints exposed to jet fuel or aviation gasoline.
