Product Description
PPG P/S 870 Class B-1/2 Corrosion-Inhibitive Sealant is a two-part, manganese-dioxide-cured polysulfide sealant for corrosion-barrier sealing of aluminum alloys and dissimilar-metal aerospace joints. The Class B-1/2 grade is a low-sag, thixotropic paste applied by extrusion gun or spatula and cured at room temperature. At 25 deg C and 50% RH, it provides a typical 0.5-hour application life, less than 4 hours to tack-free, and 9 hours to 30 Shore A hardness. The cured material has a typical Shore A hardness of 50, 358 psi tensile strength, and 400% elongation. Its service range is -54 to 121 deg C, with intermittent excursions to 135 deg C.
Key features
- Class B-1/2 processing: A 0.5-hour application life is paired with less than 4 hours to tack-free at 25 deg C and 50% RH.
- Corrosion-inhibitive joint seal: The polysulfide sealant forms a barrier on aluminum alloys and between dissimilar metals.
- High-elongation cured seal: Typical cured elongation is 400% with 358 psi tensile strength.
Applications / Suitable for
- Corrosion-barrier sealing of aluminum aerospace assemblies.
- Sealing between dissimilar metals in aerospace assemblies.
- Aerospace joints exposed to fuels and oils.
